According to reporter Eleanor Terrett (@EleanorTerrett), Senate Leader Thune did not file a cloture motion on the Clarity Act tonight, with procedural matters and insufficient votes cited as the main reasons. After the procedural issues regarding the Continuing Resolution (CR) are resolved, Thune could file the motion as early as tomorrow, at which point the formal vote on the Clarity Act will take place within 30 hours after submission. Significant obstacles currently remain for the bill, including the lack of a bipartisan ethics agreement, continued silence from the White House, and unresolved disagreements surrounding BRCA. Nevertheless, multiple sources indicate that even if the bill ultimately fails, they hope to push members to vote publicly to state their positions.
